2/20/13

Documentary Film Event: 3/24, $10 - Topic: dairy

As we did last year, SFRR sponsors one of the films of the Sebastopol Documentary Film Festival. This year we are holding two seperate events on the same day. The first event of the day is the showing of three movies: Betting the Farm (85 minutes), Udderly Direct (7min) and Searcy County (6 min). These will show from 3:30 to 5:30 at the Sebastopol Center for the Arts.

The second event is a closing event focused on local dairy issues. It will showcase local dairy product providers, including cheese and ice cream. It runs from 6 to 7 pm in the same location.

Tickets for both events (movie and closing) are $10 each. They can be purchased at the Sebastopol Center for the Arts or online at Brown Paper Tickets, where there are additional details on both events.

We have chosen the film Betting the Farm, a story of small rural Maine dairy farmers who launch their own milk company when they have lost their contract with a large milk company a gamble that will either ruin or save them. After the show SFRR will co-host a closing party for the Sebastopol Documentary Film Festival where we celebrate local dairy farmers and foodcrafters and offer tastings of local cheeses and ice cream. Tickets for the party are also $10.
